WALKS (Day 5)

The North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex contains several walking trails, sports fields and a large lake, which is the Shark Wake Park. Here, one can go cable wakeboarding, a new extreme sport where riders get pulled over ramps and through obstacle courses by a pulley system located about 30 feet above the water instead of by a speedboat.

Turtles and fish flocked to the wooden deck in hopes of food.

They each hlooked quite different!

At the end of the park were some nature trails, including the North Myrtle Beach Nature Trail which took us through a cypress swamp.

In the afternoon, we headed down to Cherry Grove and walked nearly 8 miles on the beach.

The Cherry Grove Pier was built in the early 1950's. In 1999, the pier was remodeled and lengthened to 985 feet. It has a two-story observation deck and is the location of several world-record catches, including a 1,780 pound tiger shark.

The Sea Cabin Pier is a private fishing pier for the adjacent condominium complex.

Parts of it collapsed after damage from Hurricane Isaias in August 2020.

Heading back...

A shell... that matches the scenery!

Yellow watermellon!

We headed to the Duplin Winery again to sample more of their delicious beverages!

S. Ocean Blvd.

The Bargain Beachwear entrance. While there are apparently several shops in the area with a giant shark mouth doorway, this is the only one with a double row of teeth!

A Margarita slushie!
